Two forms, two descriptions
Hydrolysed collagen peptides are broken into smaller peptides. Undenatured Type II is processed to preserve its native structure. They are not interchangeable label terms, and milligrams of one cannot be treated as clinically equivalent to milligrams of the other.
Why put both in one product?
A combined formula gives a shopper one fixed product containing both ingredients. It can be convenient and lets the brand build around two different ingredient approaches. But convenience and ingredient variety are not proof that the combination is more effective.
The combination evidence matters
In a 2025 randomized trial, 68 people with knee osteoarthritis received a product containing hydrolysed collagen and UC-II or placebo for 12 weeks. Both groups improved over time, but there was no significant between-group difference in pain, function, rescue medication or satisfaction. The tested product and doses also differed from Balmve’s formula. This is a direct reason to avoid turning “two forms” into a guaranteed better-result claim.
What Balmve means by “More Than Collagen”
The current label lists 8,000 mg of collagen peptides and 40 mg of undenatured Type II separately, alongside other listed ingredients. “More” describes the formula composition. The evidence for the finished combination remains a different question.
